Starting Solid Food!

Well, make that pretty darn mushy, actually! While we were in Seattle we decided to see how Olivia liked mashed-up Banana. As it happened, she liked it pretty well. Her first 'spoon' was mom's finger, and she had a good time with it!

The classic messy-face shot. A littl eearly on for the _real_ mess, which is sure to be coming soon...

Reunited!

On 11 June, Olivia and I (Suzanne) welcomed Bob back from Greenland - hurrah! Bob was impressed by how much Olivia had grown, and it didn't take her very long at all to be comfortable again with her daddy! We are both delighted to have him back! As soon as Bob got back, we celebrated by heading straight to the nearest (read 'only', but quite good!) alehouse brewery in Richland where Olivia set straight to work attempting to acquaint herself with one of our favorite pasttimes!

A few days later, we bid farewell to the folks and headed up to Seattle where we spent the first few days with our friends Stephanie and Lori and their teenage daughter Emma. We had an enjoyable, relaxing visit and Olivia charmed one and all. Here(L>R), are Bob and Olivia standing by Puget Sound in Lincoln Park with Lori and Stephanie.

While at their house, Olivia had her first taste of solid foods. Banana is an interesting new adventure, but overall she seems to like it. She also got her first tooth while there! The lower left incisor came in, without a lot of to-do, over a couple of days. And, of course, she is sitting up like an old pro!

On the Lawn

Friday, after a warm walk in the desert (the umbrella brought for rain protection ended up being used for shade)in sarah's Baby Bjorn (Olivia slept most of the way, seemed to think it was pretty comfortable!), Olivia and I sat on the lawn with Olivia's aunt Kristen (my sister) and Sarah (born at term, a month before Olivia). She has been having a grand time watching her older cousins - they make her laugh! More pics from this, as soon as they get downloaded.

Olivia begins her culinary experience with her very own sprig of sage. She likes to feel the different textures of the dry flowers and the leaves.

Olivia has been sitting up by herself for the past week and a half and she is also getting much better at pushing up on her stomach. As well as just using her forearms, she is also pushing up on her hands, which gets her alot further off the ground. Sometimes, this gets her really close to rolling over from her front to her back.
